Luke Powers was born in Chattanooga, TN. Like Sandy he comes from a musical family. His brother Sam (pictured left) plays bass in the power-pop band Superdrag.
Luke has worked with Marcus Hummon (author of hits for The Dixie Chicks, Wynona, etc.) and Brian Ahern (best known as producer of Emmylou Harris' classic 1970s albums). He has also co-written songs with country singer Mark Collie and Earl Bud Lee. LIn 1998 Luke released an album titled SEX FAME LOVE DEATH and has several songs available for free download on mp3.com. When he is not writing songs, Luke teaches at Tennessee State University, an historically black college in Nashville, TN. Luke has a PhD in English from Vanderbilt University and Master's in Folklore from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition to scholarly work he has published fiction and poetry. He lives in Franklin, TN, with his wife Jackie O'Keefe and daughter Phoebe Claire. Luke has the following songs available for download: Driving with My Demon in the Deep South
